I am an experienced leader in economic development and innovation policy. Currently, I serve as City Economist and Director of Economic Development and International at the City of Melbourne. With over two decades of leadership across public policy, innovation ecosystems, and international engagement, I have played a key role in shaping Melbourne’s economy. I’ve been instrumental in initiatives such as the Melbourne Climate Network and have led the development of the City’s Economic Development Strategy and International Engagement Framework.Previously, I served as Director of Innovation at the Victorian Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions, where I contributed significantly to Victoria’s medtech, pharmaceuticals, and fintech sectors. In particular, I played a key role initiating and investing in landmark projects such as BioCurate, the Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre, and the National Vaccine and Therapeutics Lab.Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about fostering collaboration between government, business, and academia. As a non-executive director of the BioMelbourne Network, I continue to support the growth of innovation ecosystems in Victoria. Additionally, I am a member of advisory boards for CEDA and the Committee for Melbourne.Beyond my executive roles, I am an author and speaker, with published work in journals such as Local Economy, and contributions to global conversations on economic resilience, innovation, and climate action. My books, Solved! and Recovery, explore how societies can tackle major global challenges and build stronger, more resilient futures.
