Andrew Whalen (he/him/his), Ph.D. is a Clinical Instructor of Diversity and Inclusion at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and Lecturer with the Department of General Education at the Ohio State University. Undergraduate and graduate level education courses he has taught include Racism as a Determinant of Health, Equity and Diversity in Education, Urban Teaching and Learning, and Social Studies Methods for Pre K-3. He has created and taught DEI professional development courses that include topics such as race & racism, privilege & positionality, gender & sexuality, and advancing health equity. Andrew previously taught secondary English and humanities courses, including with Upward Bound, where he was voted Most Valuable Teacher by students after teaching Social Justice in Education. Teaching toward equity and social justice is his greatest passion.
