Demonstrated scientific leadership through support to the target discovery program and peer leadership to the research team/group. Worked as a highly proficient scientist in the study of white and brown adipose tissue and muscle function. for the purpose of increasing energy expenditure, lipid metabolism and substrate utilization. Developed and optimized in vitro techniques such as cell signaling and biochemical assays, receptor pharmacology screens, reporter lines, and calcium imaging. Significant focus on managing external collaborations and partnered projects.

Studied the neuronal circuits that integrate nutritional intake with energy expenditure. My specific focus was understanding the mechanisms that regulate thermogenesis in brown adipose tissue in response to changes to caloric intake.

Continuing research following my PhD project into the central regulation of energy balance and the mechanisms controlling brown adipose tissue thermogenesis.

I worked as a special project associate in the neurogenetics laboratory, involved directly with a number of practical research studies with a team of international scientists. Also organized personal research project for which I had to submit an assessed report. Over the year I gained practical skills and examined possible causative genetic factors for Parkinson's Disease and related neurodegenrative illnesses.
