Helping the UNDP design a major program to improve the energy efficiency of Cambodia's garment manufacturing sector. This industry currently generates around 40% of the country's GDP and employs almost 1 million people, mostly young women from rural areas. With some of the most expensive and least-sustainable energy in the world, improving energy productivity is a matter of survival.Supporting EcoSun Cambodia, a local non-profit, to commercialise a mobile solar water pump to improve the profitability and sustainability of smallholder rural farmers.

Responsible for developing and implementing sales strategy for a highly successful and growing energy management firm specialising in large commercial and industrial energy users of both electricity and gas. I was particularly good at producing clear and effective business proposals for complex engineering projects. I also enjoyed designing and delivering customised energy management training to teams from some of Australia's largest manufacturers, represented by technicians, engineers and senior management.

This involved analysing the impacts of and potential issues with current and proposed legislation and procedures. It also required liaising with ESS stakeholders in industry and within government.

I managed the carbon development process to seek Gold Standard voluntary Carbon credits for a unique private Solar Home System program in Laos. The process included concept design, writing the Project Design Document and monitoring documents, then facilitating independent 'validation' and 'verification'.

I was in-country representative in Cambodia for this French engineering consulting firm, managing sustainable energy development projects funded by the European Union. I then moved to Laos to manage for IED the World Bank funded Village Off-grid Promotion and Support project that has installed over 10,000 Solar Home Systems (photovoltaics) across the country (www.vopslaos.org).

I contributed to CRCD's independent research and publications on the topic of sustainable energy and development in Cambodia. I was the lead author of two studies to identify feasible renewable energy projects for investment, and two papers on biofuels and general sustainable energy policy in Cambodia. One has been published in a textbook for energy policy studies.

I managed this Australian state government agency's programs to accelerate investments in solar and wind energy technologies, including a solar PV rebate program, investments in projects such as a small wind farm, and a state-wide wind energy monitoring and mapping program that I helped commercialise.
