I also go into the chamber alongside the patients for the duration of the two-hour treatment and administer oxygen tubing/breathing gear. While in the chamber, I monitor and control for health emergencies and provide emergency care while at depth for patients when necessary. After receiving MRI Certification, I assisted and ran scans on patients in our mild cognitive impairment study. We were preparing tom begin two studies using low intensity focused ultrasound pulsations (LIFUP) for Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s patients. This study will serve as proof of concept for potential clinical neuromodulation therapies for these conditions. I was working on recruitment and data collection for clinical research projects with data about attention, memory, and emotion. Finally, as a Senior Capstone Project, I conducted a large-scale literature review investigating potential applications LIFUP could have for Alzheimer's disease. The project looked in depth at the disease pathology and possible methods of targeting for the technology.
