As a hyperbaric technician, I assist in the maintenance of operations at UCLA Hyperbarics. I collect vital signs and blood sugar upon patient arrival. Then, I carefully operate the hyperbaric chamber to pressurize it in simulating a scuba dive to either 45 or 60 feet below sea level. I also go into the chamber alongside the patients for the duration of the two-hour treatment and administer oxygen tubing/breathing gear. While in the chamber, I monitor and control for health emergencies and provide emergency care while at depth for patients when necessary. Examples of emergencies I have encountered are cardiac arrest, seizures, and brain bleeds.I am responsible for communicating patient status with the hyperbaric nurse, hyperbaric managers, and vascular surgeons who are all outside of the chamber.

In the Kuhn Lab, I was responsible for coordinating patient intake visits, which included explaining and ensuring understanding of the purpose of the research studies. Additionally, I obtained consent forms in accordance with approved protocols from patients enrolled in the study. After receiving MRI Certification, I assisted and ran scans on patients in our mild cognitive impairment study. We were preparing tom begin two studies using low intensity focused ultrasound pulsations (LIFUP) for Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s patients. This study will serve as proof of concept for potential clinical neuromodulation therapies for these conditions. I was working on recruitment and data collection for clinical research projects with data about attention, memory, and emotion. Finally, as a Senior Capstone Project, I conducted a large-scale literature review investigating potential applications LIFUP could have for Alzheimer's disease. The project looked in depth at the disease pathology and possible methods of targeting for the technology.

As a UCLA tour guide, I led tours for prospective/admitted students and their families and loved ones. The interactive tour included information regarding all departments at UCLA, personal experiences and anecdotes, and Q+A with our guests throughout. Additionally, I worked in the undergraduate admissions department, in tours office where I answered calls and emails from prospective students and their families regarding the college application process and visiting the UCLA campus.

In this nonclinical research assistant role, I aided Dr. Teper and Dr. Eibl with mice dissections and tissue collection in a pancreatic cancer research project looking at the effects of statins and metformin. Under their guidance, I conducted genotyping of cancerous specimen and analyzed these results to develop new therapies in pursuit of finding a cure for pancreatic diseases. In this position, one of my main responsibilities was to care for the large number of mice involved in experimentation. This included administering medication and maintenance of diet plans. I took over 15 hours of research training, involving mice and livestock handling courses.

As a USA Gymnastics Certified Category 1 (highest level a gymnastics judge can obtain domestically) judge, I served as a Chair of panels for 5-10 competitive events during the year. In this leadership position, I regulated peer judges’ scoring techniques, attire, and certifications to determine qualifications to serve on the panel. Additionally, I verified and checked the accuracy of judges scoring to ensure the correct athletes won the specific gymnastics event. As a whole, I was responsible for maintaining safety fo competing athletes and maintaining the organization of the gymnastics event in which I was in charge of leading.

As a gymnastics coach in the discipline of trampoline and tumbling, I Instructed advanced trampoline class and led the developmental team consisting of 8 or more athletes between the ages of 5 and 18.A main component of this position was ensuring the safety of all athletes under my supervision. When preparing to manage my athletes, I organized gymnasium layout to optimize space and promote regulated safety conditions, often for sanctioned events.
