About Andrew Yi
I serve as an appellate prosecutor for the State of Washington, where I represent the state in criminal appeals and post-conviction collateral review in the Washington State Court of Appeals and Washington Supreme Court. I've also authored amicus briefs on behalf of the Washington Association of Prosecuting Attorneys. Previously, I served as a public defender for a decade, where I represented thousands of individuals facing serious felony charges. I also serve as a part-time or pro tem judge for San Juan County Superior Court, Lewis County Superior Court, Thurston County District Court, Lakewood Municipal Court, and Olympia Municipal Court. Beginning in 2025, I will also serve as an adjunct professor of law at Seattle University Law School where I will teach criminal procedure to second and third year law students. I was appointed by the Washington Supreme Court to serve on the Access to Justice Board for a three-year term, which coordinates civil legal aid around the state. I also serve been appointed by the Washington State Bar Association to serve on the court rules and procedures committee, which studies and comments on proposed new court rules and amendments to existing court rules at the request of the Washington Supreme Court.
