I lead and contribute to research projects Mining, Corporate Social Responsibility, and Sustainable Development. I serve on advisory committees for graduate students, participating in supervisory committees for masters and doctoral students. I deliver lectures and help to build bridges and foster partnerships between academia, industry, and other organizations in Canada and abroad.

CIRDI is a coalition of the University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University and École Polytechnique de Montréal that was established in May 2013. CIRDI’s mandate is to act as a center for Canadian and world-­‐class expertise that assists developing countries to improve and strengthen their natural resource governance through policy, legislation, regulatory development and implementation, training, technical assistance and applied research.I manage a portfolio of international projects and activities related to Institute's program areas, including developing, designing and implementing work plans for the delivery of the projects; acting as the main point of contact for teams of technical experts, monitoring and overseeing reporting processes developing tools and processes for new business opportunities.

Through the Lifelong Learning program the Norman B. Keevil Institute of Mining Engineering at the University of British Columbia (UBC) offers the Certificate in Mining Studies for mining professionals and related areas.The Certificate in Mining Studies is comprised of three learning modules: lecture time in the form of short courses, individual projects, and on-line learning. The requirements for completion are: 9 days of lectures, one project for each short course (approximately 3 to 4 projects in total), and 160 hours of on-line courses. Each project and on-line quizzes must have a minimum grade of 60%. All work is completed remotely except for lectures days which are usually based in Vancouver, BC or when requested, at companies or mine-sites internationally. It is expected that an individual will take anywhere from 6 months to 3 years to complete the necessary work depending on time dedicated towards it.

I have finished PhD degree in the Mining Engineering department at the University of British Columbia in Canada. In my studies I have investigated the initiatives that address the socio-economic implications of mine closure that have been implemented by three mining companies which are located in Mongolia, Argentina and Canada. The thesis introduces and evaluates the Socio-Economic Mine Closure (SEMC) Framework. There are 10 elements in the Framework: Policy, Presence, Participation, Planning, Performance, Promotion, Perseverance, Patience, Passion, and Personality.The thesis can be found here: http://hdl.handle.net/2429/45595
