Rmit Europe Research DirectorRmit Europe Feb 2022 - Jul 2022Barcelona, Catalonia, SpainDeepening RMIT’s relationships with strategic industry partners in Europe, leading large-scale research funding submissions for Australia-Europe collaboration and academic leadership for RMIT Europe research fellows -
Senior Lecturer (Materials Science And Engineering)Monash University Jun 2017 - Aug 2019Melbourne, AustraliaMy group research activities are focusing on Additive Manufacturing, Architectured Materials, Modelling and their applications to solve engineering problems. -
LecturerMonash University Jan 2015 - May 2017Melbourne, AustraliaMy main research themes are:• ‘Computational Materials Science’,• ‘Additive Manufacturing’,• ‘Geometry Inspired Materials Design’,• ‘Severe Plastic Deformation’.My current research is focusing on combining the knowledge of these disciplines and using them as a foundation for a new approach to design of novel hybrid materials. Hybrid materials are defined as materials that combine the properties of two or more existing materials with an engineered architecture at different length scales.Lecturing several subjects in the field of Materials Engineering• Fracture Mechanics• Mechanics of materials• Computing for Engineers• Finite Element Method• Thermodynamics -
Research FellowMonash University Jan 2011 - Dec 2014Melbourne, AustraliaVariety of research projects in areas of Experimental and Computational Material Science including:• Modelling the mechanical response of metals by using fundamental concepts of plasticity and dislocation theory. Multiscale computational models are developed not only to describe the mechanical response of the metal, but also to explore the features of the microstructure responsible for the deformation behaviour. This research, which combines theoretical andexperimental analysis, helps obtaining fundamental understanding of the underlying deformation mechanisms of metallic materials and enables their application in micro/nanodevices.• Development of novel energy absorbing lightweight composite materials which use building blocks of a specific interlocking shape as a core of the composite with applications in automotive and aerospace industries in collaboration with ArcelorMittal, France.• Development of novel composite materials based on biomimetic approach utilizing advanced manufacturing technologies such as multi-material 3D printer and development of theoretical and computational models for optimization of mechanical and functional properties.• Collaborative research with Bremen University and DLR Stuttgart into novel ceramic materials with significantly improved fracture toughness and superior sound absorption capability. -
Visiting Researcher, Department Of Ferrous MetallurgyRwth Aachen University Nov 2018 - Dec 2018Kreisfreie Stadt Aachen Area, GermanyI am working with the Integrated Computational Materials Engineering group on several projects related to modelling of the microstructure evolution in additive manufactured parts and prediction of their mechanical properties. -
