Research Fellow

Melbourne, Australia

Variety of research projects in areas of Experimental and Computational Material Science including:• Modelling the mechanical response of metals by using fundamental concepts of plasticity and dislocation theory. Multiscale computational models are developed not only to describe the mechanical response of the metal, but also to explore the features of the microstructure responsible for the deformation behaviour. This research, which combines theoretical andexperimental analysis, helps obtaining fundamental understanding of the underlying deformation mechanisms of metallic materials and enables their application in micro/nanodevices.• Development of novel energy absorbing lightweight composite materials which use building blocks of a specific interlocking shape as a core of the composite with applications in automotive and aerospace industries in collaboration with ArcelorMittal, France.• Development of novel composite materials based on biomimetic approach utilizing advanced manufacturing technologies such as multi-material 3D printer and development of theoretical and computational models for optimization of mechanical and functional properties.• Collaborative research with Bremen University and DLR Stuttgart into novel ceramic materials with significantly improved fracture toughness and superior sound absorption capability.
