In 2006, I graduated as a bachelor in Multimedia and Communications Technology from the 'Hogeschool West-Vlaanderen'. During the last months of my studies, I had my first experience in IT security during my internship at Alekos. I was a security consultant at this small company that I founded together with 4 fellow students. After my studies, I started as a security engineer with C-CURE, a small but ambitious company that focuses on design, implementation and management of corporate perimeters and internal networks. As a security engineer, my primary jobs were helping customers with expert advice and help on the Service Desk, and implementing small security solutions.Over the years, I moved on to the functions of security consultant and senior security consultant. this resulted in a much bigger focus on customers (implementing projects, pre-sales, design, architecture) as well as a bigger focus on colleagues (technical coaching, escalations).About 5 years in, C-CURE became part of the Telenet Business organization, where I continued my work as a senior security consultant. During the transition, there was a larger focus on coaching and training technical and sales colleagues.Recently, I became a principal security consultant. Beside my previous responsibilities, there is now an even larger focus on technical coaching of colleagues and the design, architecture, leading and implementating of complex projects. I am also the product lead for Check Point and Palo Alto firewall technologies, performing technical lifecycle management and maintaining a close relationship with different departments within these vendors.
