Responsible for all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repair and administration of all equipment and machinery on the rig. Monitor the functioning of utilities and equipment.Lead and develop strategy and direction for all assets major maintenance program. Maintain facility guidelines and procedures. Responsible for continuous improvement to existing and new facility equipment.Assist third party specialists working under specific maintenance contracts.Prepare the various maintenance engineering contracts work packages required for new projects. Controls all maintenance and engineering activities on board drilling vessel by supervising team to ensure proper operation and maintenance of propulsion machinery and auxiliaries, drilling/rotating equipment, and deck machinery. •Conducts regular inspections and tests in order to ensure the safety and seaworthiness of the vessel and takes any corrective action where and when appropriate.•Co-ordinates shutdowns by planning maintenance to be completed.•Compiles repair lists to be carried out in port by ship’s maintenance staff and contractors.•Manages the planned maintenance program SAP. •Updates all drawings and plans and advises on all modifications carried out. •Manages and co-ordinates the supply of equipment from suppliers by negotiating prices and scanning the environment to identify cost effective purchases. •Compiles legal reports as required.•Improves the effectiveness and efficiency of engineering processes and systems by:-Identifying and implementing world class practices.-Continuously examining the appropriateness of existing systems and processes against the possibility of improved efficiency, and implementing changes as required. •Implements new knowledge / information by keeping abreast of developments and assessing applicability to Company operations.•Use expertise to introduce systems which enhance the effectiveness of the section.•Adheres to and promotes Company policies and procedures relating to health, safety, security and environmental issues. •Ensuring company targets are met by appropriate recruitment and career development.•Shares information readily when appropriate.•Develops self and career through setting and achieving personal career goals.

Monitors the maintenance of all equipment and machinery on vessel according to the planned maintenance schedules by: Supervising the maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment;Reporting any downtime and problems to the Chief Engineering Officer;Checking that all equipment is operated according to legal requirements and Company standards and procedures;Conducting regular inspections and tests to ensure the safety and seaworthiness of the ship.Manages people resources to ensure availability of necessary skills by allocating work teams.Monitors all costs to avoid waste by reviewing budget reports and taking corrective action where required.Performs various administrative duties e.g. rosters, watch reports.Supervises the watchkeeping of all personnel in their respective areas for the duration of the shift.To maintain all engineering functions onboard ship including maintenance, operating of equipment and watchkeeping during the specific shift.
