Rotation in professional disciplines of Hematology, Immunohematology (blood banking), Histotechnology, Clinical Chemistry and Medical Microbiology. As an intern one is expected to portray the skills and knowledge that was learnt throughout the studies at University. Each specialisation is unique but has overlapping principles and as such one is expected to be able to make the inter-disciplinary connections to solve the problem. A myriad of medical testing techniques are employed in each section which every intern is expected to be theoretically knowledgeable about and able to practically perform said techniques. As Medical Technologist Interns a patient's life is at our finger tips and as such mistakes can not be made.

In this capacity I assisted in a HIV/AIDS research that was being conducted by a medical doctor & lecturer at the university. This resulted in me travelling island wide for sample collection from normal 'healthy' persons, C13 +ve persons on ARVs and person who were not on medication but was deemed medically capable to function normally, processing said samplea for long term storage and Flow Cytometry testing for CD markers, data collection and secure storage about participants' medical history and other necessities as needed.
