My duties involve the acquisition of new canddidates, providing them with informations about the production and TV format. Develop and present professional thematic interpretive programs (guided walks and talks) about the park‘s significants with a focus on the park‘s geologic story, the unique environment on the Big Island of Hawaii, and the culture of the Hawaiian people to a wide variety of audiences. Programs given are in a diversity of park locations including the Kilauea Visitor Center, Jaggar Museum, trails, auditoriums etc.Original interpretive programs include How It All Started - 20 minute geology talk about how the island were formed, what volcanoes exist on the island today, and the future of the Hawaiian hot spot. Also Life On The Edge - 20 minute talk about how scientists monitor volcanoes, the current and past eruptions of the Kilauea Volcano, and the ever changing landscape, and Explore The Summit - 45 minute guided hike discussing native and endemic plants, the Hawaiian culture, and the geology of the Halema‘uma‘u Crater. Received 80 hours of formal training in interpretation, customer service, safety, and cultural and natural resources. Work at the information desk greeting guest and providing park visitors with complete and accurate resources, safety and area information. Also operate audio/visual equipment in the auditorium at Kilauea Visitor Center. Participate in opening and closing procedures throughout the park. Additional volunteer duties include cleaning governenment vehicles, sorting the rock box and work during cultural happening within and around the park.

Assist customers with various issues from repeat reminders, wrong bills and the petitions for a TV license.
