After a break caring for Mum, I decided to get back into I.T. having over 20 years experience mainly in finance. I have spent my time away from full time work learning, with the main recent training in golang, writing numerous programs and completing courses on the language and its use in web programming. I am a member and attendee of both the London and Dorset golang meetups. Familiar with Mongo, JSON, postgres in golang environment. Also knowledge of github, python, android, docker, and blockchain.Going back further, I have worked in C, C++, COBOL and AIMS.Very self motivated and flexible. I'm happy working in a team or individually and love learning new things. I enjoy writing, amending and debugging code. I'd be very happy to discuss any position in any location if you think my current skills would be of interest to you. I can pick up new skills very quickly and would consider joining the right organisation at any level appropriate to the requirement whether permanent, temporary or contract.

Brief summary of previous work:Trainee programmer working in COBOL for Rumbelows starting 1985. After 18 months I moved into London to work at Security Pacific National Bank (later Bank of America) where I mainly used COBOL, AIMS and INGRES. Some consultancy work in early data mining using Netmap. Contracted in AIMS for the software house Winter Partners with C and C++, then moved to Barclays in Poole where I stayed for 12 years.I decided to take a break from IT, so from 2007 I ran a franchise providing office equipment and also worked as a basketball coach at Bournemouth University. However, I continued to write applications for my business and kept in touch with developments in IT. Research and interest in cryptocurrencies led me to learning all I could about blockchain which led me to various languages before discovering a love of Go and after learning and using the language personally for a couple of years, deciding to move back into IT employment.
