I work as a Field Research Technician for the Lumeng-Miller Lab at the Center for Human Growth and Development. We work with toddlers and their mothers to investigate childhood obesity as it is impacted by stress, home environment and a number of other factors. We conduct our research primarily in participants' homes. We collect saliva samples to assess cortisol (stress hormone) and a range of digestive hormones and enzymes, and biometric data to determine Body Mass Indices of participants. We lead children and their mothers in a series of videotaped tasks to assess the children's ability to delay gratification, an important predictor of obesity. Our study also includes questionnaires with mothers on a wide range of topics such as family environment, feeding practices, and mothers' well-being and eating habits. We finish each phase of study by videotaping a typical family meal - allowing the child to eat to satiety - after which we provide a tray of snack foods, and let the child eat uninterrupted for ten minutes. This allows us to assess the child's eating of 'junk foods' in the absence of hunger. In addition to field data collection, I assist periodically with subject recruitment, screening and enrollment, training of new staff, data management, manual creation and other office tasks.

I cared for youth ages 3-12 living in a children's shelter. I created educational and recreational programming, lead daily routines like meal times and hygiene, and diffused crises as they arose.

I designed and implemented a job skills program for the youth served by The Link.

I served as a Promise Fellow for a year. I worked at The Link, a social services nonprofit.

I take care of two young children for the Hicks Family.

I worked as a nanny supervising two teenagers, and later as an organization consultant for Amy Thomas.
