He has experience working with all age groups, psychiatric diagnoses, ethnicities, and subcultures. His therapeutic interventions, helping model, and personal style were derived from years of research, experience, and training. Dr. Barber served in a 160 bed psychiatric hospital for eight years, prior to resigning in order to return to his Private Practice and his writing. He began as the Adult Program Manager and Lead Psychotherapist. He also served as Program Manager for the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit. He was Director and Lead Therapist for the Drug/Alcohol Rehabilitation Program which he helped build and run at the hospital. He was the Director of the Intake and Assessment Department. He managed, helped build, and was Lead Therapist for the Pain Management Program. He routinely mentored and supervised new therapists and interns.

He directed and supervised social services, health education, and psychotherapy operations at three clinics (one of which was located at the Opportunity Center for the Homeless), and served as Lead Psychotherapist and Corporate Compliance Officer. He developed the Corporate Compliance Plan and authored the Corporate Performance Improvement Plan. He returned to private practice when his contract expired.

He directed the department and the academic affairs at two major campuses comprising 4500 students and 500 faculty. He also served as Campus Chair for Social and Behavioral Sciences, and Professor of Counseling, Psychology, Management, and Religion.

He served as senior analyst, experimental psychologist, statistician, human factors engineer, and systems evaluator; supervised research teams; authored program documentation, research reports, and technical proposals; performed as technical consultant. He was involved in numerous high profile defense projects and held Top Secret/NATO Secret clearances.

Ft. Bragg, Nc

Mr. Barber was trained in mechanized infantry and airborne infantry, and was on active duty during the Vietnam era, assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper. He was a combat specialist and fire team leader, the radio operator for the unit sniper elimination squad, and an expert marksman with the M16 rifle, the .45 pistol, and the M79 grenade launcher. He was honorably discharged.
