I started with Cleveland Cable Co. as a class 2 HGV driver and progressed through the Company to my current position of transport supervisor/appointed person which I have held for 8 years. I have the responsibility of making sure that our drivers are fully compliant with the rules and regulations regarding the drivers hours rule and training given regarding any new equipment that enters service. I also have to make sure that our vehicles are booked in for there inspections every six weeks and our lorry loader cranes are serviced every three months and LOLER tested every year along with the six monthly lifting equipment inspections. I've been heavily involved with the design process of our new company vehicles making sure our vehicles have access ladders, built -in fall protection systems, hand wash systems, extra securing systems ( regarding load securing )and that our vehicles carry enough securing straps, every vehicle carries spill kits, first aid kits and fire extinguishers to make sure our vehicles are safe whilst travelling to and from sites, our vehicles comply with the latest compliance regarding FORS, CROSSRAIL and CLOCS.I also hold the position of Appointed Person within the company, which involves meeting with our customers on sites across the country to discuss method statements, risk assessments and submitting lift plan in accordance with current legislation BS7121 & PUWER, LOLER 98 & H&S at work.
