Based from a home office and reporting directly to the UK General Manager I had responsibility both for the management of existing accounts and for new business and new customer development in the North East England and Scotland regions. My role included consulting with OEMs, systems integrators, distributors and end users at all levels to promote understanding of Burkert’s extensive ranges of process measurement, monitoring and control products and systems (flow, pressure, level, analytical & temperature). Based from a home office and reporting to the UK Sales Manager my role, in the newly formed industrial division of the company, involved the promotion of state of the art, laser-technology, measurement systems, for precise product profiling and high accuracy monitoring of manufacturing throughput.Achievements include:• The specification, supply and integration of fully automatic product thickness measurement systems for two automotive fabric manufacturers• The specification and supply of profile and defect analysers for small bore medical tubing manufacturers• Setting up the first satellite sales office within the BIRAL organisation

Reporting directly to the Operations Director I was employed in a technical applications / sales support / development capacity to promote the benefits of flexible PTFE hosing to industries including automotive, marine, medical, food and beverage and refrigeration. The position combined extensive liaison with both existing and potential clients with investigations into new product variants to suit bespoke application requirements. I also gained the responsibility for evaluating and calculating accurate manufacturing costs for all products manufactured by the company.Achievements include:Successful development, including the design and testing, of fuel hose suitable to meet new regulations introduced into the marine industryComplete re-appraisal of the material and manufacturing costs of each individual product via time and motion studies and materials evaluationIntegration into the automotive fuel and brake hose development team

Exeeco Ltd - currently known as Rotork Gears, a division of Rotork Plc..Reporting directly to the Gearbox Division Director I progressed, after my 4-year apprenticeship, through the assembly and machining shops to become Senior Engineer in the drawing office of Exeeco's Gearbox Division. In this role I oversaw a team of 3 engineers / draftsmen, and was responsible for all gearbox related design issues and for ensuring customer contracts were engineered to the correct specifications.I was a leading member of the company's Quality team and was instrumental in its acquisition and retention of the ISO 9001 quality accreditation.I was Secretary of the Health and Safety committee ensuring that both our on and off-site working practices were in accordance with appropriate regulations. Holding this position also involved significant integration with the company's Training department to ensure operatives were trained to the required standards.
