At the same time I can automate so that redundant tests can be accomplished very quickly and accurately.- Managing people: For the last few jobs, I have always been leading groups so that I actually do all the activities of the manager except the performance reviews and thus it is actually my job to help people look good so they can move up in their positions along with encourage them to do their best job while they are working a project with me. I also make budgets, execute timelines, manage vendors, and drive processes so that everyone knows I am in charge (and responsible) for getting the product out on time with the correct features and with the quality promised. Testing the Teledyne analyzer and generator products for Ethernet and Fiber Channel. Setting up complex scenarios to ensure all functions work on these amazingly cool products that support jamming and packet debugging. Trying to find bugs on these Analyzers/Generators before the customers do and also going through a huge list of functions that each of these products support. So, I am testing at the max of all protocols since customers are using our products to test their maximums, i.e. 100 Gig Ethernet, 32G FC, with wire-speed traffic along with multiple other internal protocol level assignments setup. The products I test with also support and are the leader in the PCIe market (~80% market share).

• Lead highly skilled engineers in the ground up creation of a testing group, including test plans, cases and strategy to test new high end SSD NVMe technology and prepare this highly complicated technology for enterprise consumption. Learned how to build these Linux based systems so that we could measure IOPS and reliability which we fed into the production and hardening of the product.• Block storage systems implementation and testing using RDMA over converged ethernet, using Mongo db and NVMesh. Took Raid volumes (targets, clients, etc.) verified their speed and performance outclassed competition and then added in reliability testing, ex. drive pulls, mirroring, loading new SW in NIC cards, etc.

• Managed groups and administered schedules across national and international boundaries to produce switches/routers from beginning to end including features, protos, testing, etc. Products won the International communications award and red dot awards.• Won 3 consecutive yearly prestigious Dell Champion Awards for individual accomplishment. • Built and managed a great team for an Ethernet Switching/Routing project (code named the X-series switch) which was created completely from scratch. Presented to Michael Dell who gave high kudos. Architected new features, planned and redesigned the technical specs necessary and continued overseeing the resources to hit all milestones. Switch now outsells similar Dell products.• Continually configured various switches for multiple features (i.e. dot1x security, STP, Multicast, OSPF, etc.) to assist customers in debugging complex topologies and help them understand their problems. Some problems turned out to be misconfiguration errors and others needed a new bug created (and then pushed to the test team for better coverage).
• Took on many additional initiatives, including industry standard CLI investigation and efforts (spanning across multiple vendors), executed several patents into our products (5 so far), performed QA process analysis and improvements, and the creation of the System Test charter, which were all accomplished in parallel with other responsibilities. (More patents mentioned below.)• Design and create technical specs so that new feature requirements can perform seamlessly with existing Layer 2/3 features (i.e. STP, DHCP, 802.1x, Multicast, LLDP, etc.). Added several proprietary features to our networking products so that Dell customers have the benefit of a feature rich and better-together solution.• Help cross-functional teams better understand networking concepts and command variances (Layer 2/Layer 3) and use highly effective communication skills to engage other engineers to improve knowledge and quality across groups.

Organized team efforts and budgets to best accomplish highly aggressive deadlines and very stringent standards for the successful deployment of these IT products. • Well versed in writing test cases and test plans (developing strategies) to ensure Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR), reach, data throughput, frequency overlap and other requirements specified by the standards (ITU, ANSI, IEEE, etc.).
• Directed and supervised the entire test team to deliver a network entity, Home Location Register (HLR), into the Wireless Intelligent Network (WIN) for large customers (BellSouth, Southwestern Bell, etc.). • Verified SS7 and TCAP transport mechanisms and became a focal point and a basis for knowledge concerning the complex aspects of SS7 networks, IS41 protocols and telecom variances. • Built strong customer relationships and performed intense interoperability testing with network traffic to observe and convey necessary software changes to ensure functionality needs were met. • Developed an intricate test automation application, including front end GUIs (using Tcl and Perl), for protocol verification and bug reporting. • Extremely proficient in using test tools, protocol analyzers, simulators, test repositories, configuration management, writing test scripts, devising test plans, communicating, consulting individuals, testing to requirements, and meeting stringent timelines.
• Designed and coded (using C and a proprietary interpreted language) a PBX simulator consisting of large components to automate internal testing of a digital phone. • Devised test strategy and automation programs to handle ISDN voice, data, and analog adapters, along with the layer 2 and 3 communication protocols involved. • Worked with numerous ISDN telephony devices to ensure LAP-B and LAP-D interfaces.
