The role also entailed the mentoring of apprentices, the supervision of the rest of the engineers on shift. Ensuring PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) schedules were met, all Planned corrective works were completed throughout the shift, All breakdowns are completed and logged correctly on the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) which was SAP. Whilst in this role became the site Pneumatic specialist, in which I would lead projects in pneumatic upgrades on plant machinery, from Using Didactic Fluidsim software to design and simulate pneumatic circuits, research and get quotations for required components, put together a timeline for the upgrade work and present this to the management teams (engineering, Production and Plant Managers). Once approved i would then carry out the work, Pneumatic panel building, installation and testing of all components ensuring machine processes remain unto standard. During these upgrades I would work closely with the onsite Functional safety to ensure all upgrades met PUWER standards.I would also be tasked with using CAD software to create 3D models and engineering drawings for components that we either lacked drawings of or modifications had been made to. This was especially helpful when a part cannot be purchased and has to be reverse engineered. As part of the plant engineering team I was also involved in 5S workshops and as a shift improving the workshop standards.
