When I left the UK I decided to do anything but an office job. So When I arrived in Sydney I went in to the city armed with no other experience other than sales and went to find a job. Safe to say a bar on circular quay decided to give me a go. For 7 months I worked opposite the harbour bridge and next to the opera house pouring cocktails. This was one of the most amazing experiences I ever had, beautiful views everyday, the harbour bridge NYE fireworks, random celebs that would pop in getting… Show more When I left the UK I decided to do anything but an office job. This was one of the most amazing experiences I ever had, beautiful views everyday, the harbour bridge NYE fireworks, random celebs that would pop in getting a little worse for ware, basically watching people enjoying life, enjoying mine just as much.From there I decided to fly north to a town called Townsville in north Queensland looking for a new experience. I heard of working going 2 hours south in the small town of Bowen(famous for its mango). So I move in to a working hostel in the middle of no where, in the heart of Australia's wilderness, kangaroos, wallabies, snakes, wild turkeys, pigs, crocs, hawks and even the odd eagle were all now within range. Once again deciding to chuck myself out of my comfort zone and get a job on a Cattle farm,This really put life to its basics, it was 4am mornings to feed the bulls followed by whatever needed to be done, one day I'd be driving the john dear across to fix fences by the creek and the next racing the quad across the remains of a bush fire to make sure to cattle weren't trapped. I spent 6 months working in the blistering sun, swimming in the creek on my lunch break,working physically harder than I ever had to because you had no choice, it had to be done. But after all said and done with a cold beer at the end of the day watching the sun set over the beautiful landscape it was all worth while. Show less
