About Andy Browne

Hello, I am recent graduate of Oregon State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Minor in Photography. My freshman year I went to a job interview in Portland and they asked, ” So what do you want to do?” I heard this hundreds of times, I simply responded with, “Mechanical Engineering.” They asked, “No, what exactly do you want to do? Like spaceships, music, beer making, what are you interested in?” I didn’t have an answer, so they gave me homework. “Go join some clubs and find out what you are passionate about”. The next week I joined 5 clubs. I felt out a variety of interests from creating new businesses, managing businesses, to developing an implementation trip from feedback of a community in Nicaragua. And that’s where I found exactly what I was passionate about. I worked on a dozen projects, in sportswear design and prototyping. From illuminated app controlled rock wall holds, to an automated system to prevent dogs from overheating in cars. I have always thought of ways to make existing products better, jotting drawings down in my notes and then creating prototypes. I became a footwear development engineer after hustling for over 2 years on linkedIn, scheduling informational interviews 2-4 times a week with professionals. I found domestic footwear manufacturing, home. I worked day in and day out to help grow companies and exceed expectations. I enjoy wearing a bunch of hats, able to fill any gaps the company needs from technical expertise to attention to detail. I prioritize educating others the way the leaders in my life have done to me. Someone more wise than me said; there are two types of people, born leaders and even better leaders that need guidance and an opportunity.
