As KPMG Deals Finance and WCAP Centre of Excellence lead, I specialise in deal strategy and execution for the finance function. I help finance leaders through complex transactions, ensuring they manage risk and deliver maximum value. In my role I am responsible for running the practice and looking after the team. This involves managing client relationships and delivering engagements, as well as recruitment, coaching and mentoring. I find building our offering and developing the team very rewarding. I have a deep understanding of the deal lifecycle from a financial perspective. I’ve spent 15 years as a consultant, and worked in CFO roles across the corporate and start up environment. I believe this enables me to see the bigger picture – and the all-important details – when helping clients to execute and extract value from deals. It also helps me to empathise with finance leaders, and understand their objectives, motivations and concerns. A key part of my role is working side by side with CFOs at a critical point in their career: that’s easier to do when you’ve been there yourself. I thoroughly enjoy the work I do for clients. I like the critical thinking involved in cutting through huge amounts of data to find the right strategies for complex deal situations. When not working, I love spending time with my wife and young son. I’m from a family of ardent Port Vale supporters and supporting the team remains an important bond in my family. I’m also incredibly lucky and proud to be able to combine my passions in my role as a trustee and board member of clubs charity foundation.
