Compaq was a great company to work for and I was sad to see it sold off to HP. I was hired by Gary Klembara who had built and ran Compaq's systems integrator group. I was hired because of my previous experience working with EDS. My first assignment was to support EDS in their efforts to sell Compaq products to customers worldwide. I worked on projects that involved a wide range of applications from gaming systems to connecting GM dealerships with Detroit, and department of Defense projects such as the Joint Strike Fighter. I also helped the first internet services division at EDS build an infrastructure of servers for this then new division. At the time they were migrating from SUN to the Windows platform.While at Compaq some of the other accounts I worked closely with were Affiliated Computer Services, SBC (now AT&T), ICL (PoS Systems) and AmeriTech in Chicago which later became part of SBC.It was one of the best jobs I ever had and It allowed me to gather a great deal of education and experience across multiple technologies and multiple industries. It truely challenged and honed my ability to analyze business needs and develop solutions. I loved it!
