In this capstone experience, I had the opportunity to work on a team to analyze current methods of global aid delivery and propose policy solutions that would align with current non-governmental accords. Through stakeholder interviews and an analysis of past and current research investigations, our team was able to effectively discuss our findings and proposed solutions in a presentation with prominent members of the organization.

Under the supervision of Dr. Natalie Bowman and Dr. Ross Boyce, I worked on a variety of infectious disease research projects, ranging from COVID-19's impact on essential works, to the lasting impacts of malaria on individuals in developing regions of the globe. In this role, I worked to process genetic material, gather primary research for areas of interest, and create a new protocol for the storage of thousands of samples. Further, I worked to organize and package shipments of scientific instruments for delivery to our sister laboratories in Latin America and West Africa.

In this role, I furthered my communication and leadership skills by serving as a liaison between student organizations and the management team at UNC's Office for Student Affairs. I assisted in the reservation of rooms for club events, directed prospective families to key sites on UNC's campus, and ensured that all questions were answered or properly directed to others.
