Learning about on the day tickets, and also learning how to book advance tickets in a months time, and all the complex rules about ticketing and ticket refunds. -Station GateLine Barriers at Plymouth Station. This is the start of people’s journey, and often the first member of Railway staff that the customers meet, and the very last member of staff they meet at the end of their journey. It’s also a line of defence for any revenue loss and prevention. This was a great way to learn about assisting customers. -Passenger Assist at Plymouth was a great experience to get to meet passengers and interact with them, and to give them the best service possible. The customers ranged from the Elderly who required assistance with bags, to the disabled needing extra facilities to board, through to large groups of Children good away on school trips. Each individual had their own needs, and it was a great way to utilise the station facilities to ensure our customers got the best experience and journey possible. -On-Board Customer Host on board the Intercity 125 HST’s working in the buffet, the First Class Trolly, and onboard the Pullman Services serving Silver Service and freshly cooked food on board. The experience was one I will never forget, the day really predicts what type of customers you will face, from First Class Passengers going to Cheltenham Race Days, to large groups of Football fans going to London for the day.
