As principle Designer and head of our internal development team it is my ongoing remit to coordinate all aspects of our pre-production process. From open market land bids and appraisals to highly complex and competitive new build housing and refurbishment tenders. Assessing and briefing our internal and external teams accordingly. Reporting directly to the Regional Director it is my sole responsibility to manage all our external Architectural and Engineering consultants whilst implementing Lovell’s strict design parameters and ensuring they are followed at all times. Attending monthly management meetings and producing detailed management reports. Working closely with the Partnerships and Land Manager I am required to give formal briefings and presentations to both clients and prospective employers during the lengthy pre-construction negotiation process. I am directly responsible for design, supervision, administration and design of all new house styles within the parameters of our standard and bespoke product portfolio. Liaising directly with the Sales and Commercial Managers regarding all specification product and design specifications. Production of all associated design information from inception to construction. Green design issues are extremely important to me and I have avidly embraced the changes in statutory legislation and continue to be at the forefront of all Lovell’s sustainable and environmental programmes. As lead member of a small design team it was my responsibility for the management of every aspect of the design & development process. Carrying out initial viability schemes and liaising with representatives of Planning and Transportation on a pre-application basis. Implementation of detailed designs and briefing technical consultants prior and during the application process. Reporting directly to the Partners it was my primary role to manage ever project from inception to completion and ensuring the all budgetary and programming constraints were adhered to at all times. As principle designer I produced detailed Design Risk Assessments, Design Method statements and Traffic Management Schemes to safeguard the welfare of all site based operatives. Liaising with Site Managers, Contractors, Local Authority Planning, Listed Building, Advert Consent and Building Control Departments regarding current and forthcoming developments. Producing detail specification literature for both construction and sales purposes whilst designing all standard and bespoke house types for the product portfolio. Sourcing suitably qualified and experienced staff as and when required.

Working directly with the Technical Director and undertaking the supervising and day to day running of the multi regional design department. Working closely with the land team on all aspects of land acquisition, preparation of viability layouts, scheme designs and pre-app negotiations. Representing Robertson Homes within joint ventures with other developers. Leading a design team of four Technicians within two regional offices I was directly responsible for design, supervision, administration and implementation of all new house styles within the parameters of our standard product portfolio (2004 Range International Collection). Liaising directly with the Sales, Commercial and Regional Directors regarding all specification and design issues. Directly responsible for all construction related information and the clarification of any design related matters. As principle designer I prepared all product specific and site-specific design risk assessments for the pre tender health and safety file. Liaising with Planners and Building Control Surveyors from viability to construction regarding all facets of commercial house building. Supervision and guidance of architectural consultants carrying out a wide range of tasks from refurbishment projects to competition designs. House type Barcelona is short listed for house of the year 2008 at the Scottish Homes Awards.
