About Andy Crowe

Kia ora! I'm Andy. I'm an educator and self-taught maker and tinkerer.For as long as I can remember (literally since I was 4yo) I have been tinkering and re-making my toys. By the time I was 8/9yo I was borrowing my Dad's tools (he's a mechanic), and started peeking into various electronics goods.This curiosity has taken me on an adventure of sorts.Over the last 12 years, I have been involved in Community Development, Education, and Social Enterprise. This is where my heart has been. During these same 12 years I started teaching myself how to do simple coding, Arduino projects, build 3D printers and kept a keen eye on digital fabrication developments for product development.I believe there is a phenomenal opportunity to change the status quo and close the expertise gap between the haves and the have not’s. I believe technology has a role to play in this. Especially in the hands of willing teachers, like you!When I'm not supporting teachers, I'm working on my own maker projects solving and scratching my own itches. Like one of my recent projects, I made a 'Cereal Dispenser', for my 4yo son who wakes up before the birds do!I specialise in supporting teachers to use frameworks that develop their own, and their students', curiosities. This is main driver behind the supportive and whānau oriented vibe of the programme.► It was built in response to the ongoing challenge and disparity experienced by new entrepreneurs who didn't have the network, or knowledge to grow their small enterprises.
