My current role with Riverbank IT is predominently remote support, being part of the initial response and escalations teams for many customers as well as resolving first and second line PC and server issues remotely for a number of commercial clients. This role involves supporting many customer networks via Labtech which is a web based support tool which allows the team to remotely connect to the client servers and machines. We currently support Windows 2003, 2008 and 2012 server, Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 clients. We support Hyper V and VM Ware virtual technologies using onsite ESX hosts, as well as conventional server hardware. Riverbank IT provide Cloud based solutions to customers as well as supporting and maintaining the onsite customer hardware. I have had exposure to Apple devices, iPad and MACs with many of our customers. I have worked with Sophos, SCCM and AVG Anti-Virus solutions as part of this role and Sophos in previous roles.

This role involved supporting many customer networks via Nestor which is a web based support tool which allows the team to remotely connect to the client servers. We used Go To Assist to remotely connect to customer PCs. We supported Windows 2003, 2008 and 2012 server, Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 clients. We supported Hyper V and VM Ware virtual technologies using onsite ESX hosts, as well as conventional server hardware. European Electronique provide Cloud based solutions to customers as well as supporting and maintaining the onsite customer hardware. I have had exposure to Apple devices, iPad and MACs with many of our customers. We support a number of Backup solutions, but predominantly Veeam and I have had good exposure to this technology. I worked with Sophos, SCCM and AVG Anti-Virus solutions as part of this role and Sophos in previous roles.

Oxford & Reading

I have to effectively manage my time to plan observations and assess work activities undertaken by primarily 16-18 year old apprentices who are completing work based IT apprenticeships. This involves working with the apprentices and employers to guide the apprentices on the activities, by which they can provide sufficient and relevant evidence to meet the awarding body competency standards. I give the apprentices’ target dates to ensure completion of the relevant competency units between my visits by which I can assess the work and ensure it meets the relevant standards. I arrange work based visits to complete the work based reviews with the apprentice and their employer and to complete an observation of work on an arranged work activity, which is then written up to map unit standards, as part of the apprenticeship.Overall, I am responsible for ensuring the apprentices complete their apprenticeship in a timely manner, which is one year and a day from the initial employment date for each apprentice.

I joined NITP based on the Oxford and Cherwell Valley college site in November 2012. I fulfilled a similar role to that at Pearson working with IT Apprentices to help them complete the Edexcel BTEC L3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT, Software, Web and Telecoms Professionals whilst in their workplaces. This involves visiting each Apprentice to assess their competency in the workplace through observation and assessing product based evidence of work activities over a twelve month period. I have also been involved in teaching some of the Systems and Principles units in the classroom which takes place within the college as part of the Apprenticeship and preparing the Apprentices for any Level 2 Functional Skills qualifications which they may require to successfully complete the Apprenticeship.

I joined Zenos as a Programme Assessor in October 2009 and remained in this role until November 2010. I successfully applied for the Progamme Facilitator role in November 2010 which required me to attend my designated academies in Coventry or Birmingham each day. The role involved giving guidance to trainers before delivery of assignments to Apprentices with regards to the standards required by the awarding bodies. I was part of the Facilitator team which is responsible for assessing the Apprentices' assignments after submission, in order to ensure these standards are met.I completed the Level 3 IQA (formerly A1) qualification in April 2012 and was then assessing Apprentices in their workplaces throughout Coventry, Birmingham and surrounding areas, in order for them to gain the Level 3 Diploma in Professional Competence for IT and Telecoms Professionals. I completed the PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) course in August 2011 and successfully completed the IOSH Managing Safely course in July 2011. Additionally, I have completed the CompTIA A+ and MTA (Networking Fundamentals) courses since becoming a Facilitator. I would also like to complete the CompTIA Network+ and remaining MTAs to maintain my IT skills and progress my career.
