Senior It Business Analyst

Current
Barclays Wealth And Investment Management

Glasgow, United Kingdom

Leaving a permanent position with IBM, I initially joined Barclays’ Wealth Direct programme as an independent contractor, in the role of Lead Business Analyst. Eight months later, I was head-hunted and joined Barclays Wealth on a permanent contract.I was assigned to the Order Management & Execution (OM&E) work package for the majority of my first 4 years but did work on other packages too. OM&E is one of the largest and most complex work packages in the Wealth Direct programme. It supports the implementation of an Order Servicing capability on two discrete platforms. Barclays uses a group of 20+ Retail Service Providers who act as counterparties for buying and selling London Stock Exchange (LSE) Assets.I have been responsible for all aspects of the Business Analysis from initial requirements gathering (incl. process maps) to detailed analysis (incl. Use Cases, User Stories, Business Rules, UX/UI Design, Copywriting). I have created slide decks to allow proposed design to be socialised with Business and Dev teams alike.Recent assignments:Sep 18 - Aug 19: Assessment the impact of Brexit upon the Smart Investor trading platform. Feb 19 - Jan 20: Discretionary Portfolio Management (DPM) project with a Third Party partner incl. Regulatory Reporting.Feb 20 - Dec 20: I was involved in a series of small changes projects whose objective was to add new capability to the existing Smart Investor platform.Jan 21 - Feb 22: High profile, complex piece of work on a long-standing Transaction Reporting (TR) gap related to the reporting of Voluntary Corporate Action events. I was instrumental in developing the solution and provided significant support through the E2E Test cycle. The fix was implemented in September 21 with a historic repair thereafter. During this period I also worked on other changes.Feb 22 - Present Date: I have been involved in a variety of moderately complex changes to existing platforms - Process flows, User Stories, etc.

As an IBMer working within Global Business Services - Application Innovation Services, I have worked for a variety of clients over the past 10+ years, these mostly in the Financial or Insurance sectors and always providing Business Analyst expertise, in various flavours - Business Process Re-Engineering. Technical Requirements, Gap Analysis, etc.Recent clients include Lloyds Bank Group (current assignment), Royal Bank of Scotland, Standard Life, Nationwide Building Society and Alliance & Leicester Building Society.I have experience also of the Petrochemical sector and have been assigned to various Public sector organisations - Scottish Care Commission, DVLA and DWP.

Nov 1996 - Dec 2013

Managing Consultant (Lloyds Bank Group, London)

Ibm Global Business Services

Central London

I worked on assignment from IBM to Lloyds Bank Group's Galaxy programme which supports LBG’s digital platform. I was assigned to Galaxy as a Functional Lead and worked on a variety of initiatives.Galaxy is a very large programme with continually-changing processes and responsibilities. As a Functional Lead, I fulfilled a key role in the analysis, capture and documenting of Business Requirements. I took responsibility for socialising the initiatives amongst key stakeholders, creating Powerpoint presentations replete with Visio process diagrams and 'mocked up' screenshots. I worked with representatives of another third party (LBi) - who are engaged as Experience Architects to provide expert input to both Customer and User Experience - and had a significant involvement in the review of User Journey, Scamp and Wireframe content. The Debit Card Funding (DCF) initiative constituted a completely new venture for LBG, where they are acting as a merchant for the first time. This was a moderately complex area with a variety of stakeholders and requiring integration with two third party software service vendors - Datacash (Payment Services Provider) and Cardnet (Payment Acquirer). In addition, Galaxy will be the first consumer of 3D Secure functionality via the Tardis project - bespoke middleware that is used to manage the interface with Datacash. In the second year of my LBG assignment, I was assigned as the Functional Lead on four new Galaxy initiatives – Travel Money (HBOS), Maturity Instructions, STP Change Address, Order Collateral & Tax Servicing. All of the initiatives were part of a wider E2E Channel Simplification programme and required the production of a Scope & Functional Design (SFD) document which typically comprised a process-on-a- page, this underpinned with a description of what the purpose of each process step and the supporting component that be used. Thereafter, a decision would be made on whether an initiative should proceed to the Build phase.

Sep 2011 - Aug 2013
