Principal Planning & Strategy Analyst, Distributed Resources
CurrentAs a Principal Analyst on PGE's DRP team, I am responsible for continued innovation at the forefront of DER planning and integration across the company. I oversee the development and implementation of our flagship DER forecasting tool, AdopDER, which is a Python-based tool built on an open-source code framework that leverages various industry-leading modeling tools. Current projects are disaggregating our DER forecast to the feeder-level, adding Environmental Justice data layers and locational targeting modules to the tool's suite of capabilities, and developing new cost-effectiveness methodologies for resiliency and community benefits of our DER programs.
Sr. Planning & Strategy Analyst, Distributed Resources
As a senior analyst on the distributed resource planning (DRP) team, I was responsible for DER planning efforts ranging from: long-term forecasting efforts for utility IRP, non-wire solution studies incorporating both utility-scale and DER solutions, and general customer program planning and regulatory support. Much of our work in 2021 was focused on filing our first-ever Distribution System Plan, and our group was primarily responsible for developing the document and long-term vision outlined in the Plan. Notable professional achievements in this role include multiple R&D awards completed, being invited to the Steering Committee for NEEA's End Use Load Research project, serving on the Technical Advisory Group for an NREL project for modeling grid-interactive residential buildings.
Analyst, Distribution Resource Planning
Provide planning support to the organization for distributed energy resource (DER) adoption and integration. Work across teams to ensure consistent and accurate forecasting and reporting of DR products for IRP purposes and program monitoring. Estimate market potential for new and existing DER products and help shepherd them from concept to market. Support strategic integration of DERs across utility functional areas to minimize disruption and optimize value for ratepayers. Help steer the company to meet its vision of a clean energy future.
Planning Project Manager
As a project manager in the planning group, I lead a variety of research projects aimed at understanding the economic landscape in which our energy-efficiency and renewable programs operate. I also analyze and develop performance metrics that get reported to the Oregon public utility commission and other stakeholders, including cost-effectiveness, carbon reductions, and economic impacts associated with our investments. But basically the best part is I get to geek out all day every day.
Data Analyst - Planning And Evaluation
• Managed process and impact evaluations of energy efficiency and renewable energy programs• Maintained SQL database of over 3,000 records storing information related to energy-efficiency measures• Conducted cost-effectiveness analysis for annual reporting to the Oregon Public Utility Commission• Conducted quality control reviews of data feeding into public-facing reports • Performed ad hoc data analysis tasks to support project managers and program contractors• Participated in key cross-functional teams to drive innovations in organizational efficiency
Program Coordinator
As a program coordinator for Energy Trust's commercial programs, I assist program managers and contractors to ensure streamlined program delivery. I assist in processing weekly incentive payments for installed energy-efficiency measures for three commercial programs. Another primary role is to analyze energy savings and cost data in support of program planning efforts and external stakeholder reporting. One significant effort in this regard is compiling quarterly reports for the Oregon Public Utility Commission, the Conservation Advisory Council, and Renewable Advisory Council. I also perform quality control for various data reporting needs and conduct audits of Energy Trust's energy-efficiency product databases and program implementation manuals to ensure programs are aligned with goals.
Assistant Data Analyst
As an assistant data analyst with the Housing Development Center I perform data entry and analysis tasks for a large-scale survey of low-income multifamily housing in Washington. Research topics include the health of major building systems and financial well-being of property owners within the state's affordable housing portfolio. In addition to a summary analysis of the portfolio's characteristics, I will also be conducting regression analysis to highlight relationships between the housing and management characteristics and the financial viability of the properties.
Research Analyst
As a Research Analyst at an energy-efficiency consulting firm I performed cost-benefit analyses of utility planning and evaluation studies and carried out statistical analyses on raw data collected through phone and internet surveys. I also used standard industry software to estimate the economic impacts of investments in energy efficiency. In addition to performing analytical work, I also coordinated evaluation team activities and managed the budget on multiple overlapping contracts. This entailed providing clear direction and oversight to diverse team members and communicating effectively with subcontractors to deliver a quality product to the client.
Sustainable Purchasing Specialist
Researched best practices in sustainable purchasing on university campuses and advised project manager on implementation of green purchasing criteria. I also planned and facilitated educational programming related to sustainability in Portland’s food and water systems for PSU’s student body.A keystone to this position was collaborating with the student fee committee to change student group purchasing policies to reduce bottled water consumption on campus and effectively engage with the student government ASPSU to pass a resolution calling on the administration to stop the purchasing, distribution, and sale of bottled water on PSU's campus.
Student Engagement Intern
Planned a design charrete to facilitate stakeholder participation in the City of Portland’s Green Street initiative. Drafted outline and organized workshop to enable creation of Student Sustainability Leadership Council. Conducted feasibility assessment for installing solar power atop Cramer Hall and submitted proposal to the Student Building Fee Allocation Committee.
