Recruiting, developing & managing a team of up to 10 Product Assurance Engineers supporting the introduction of the A400M & A350 aircraft programmes. Developing a new Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) process and liaising with a variety of internal departments to ensure its application in order to enable a robust launch into production. Responsible for assuring the systems employed during the production launch meet the requirements of the Quality Management System, this was achieved by development & deployment of process audits reported at site management level.

To provide quality leadership and support during the initial production introduction stages of the two new high profile aircraft programmes for Filton site. Collating non conformance data from manufacturing processes and customer concerns the role would then facilitate the 8D problem solving process to eradicate the issues. Also managed the complex configuration of a concurrent engineering process to assure the product before shipment to next in chain internal customer.

• Liaised and managed customer concerns by leading problem-solving activities. Reject rate at customer plant was above 2500PPM which was reduced to below 100PPM.• Reduced the excessive costs being incurred by circa £50K p.a. through effective removal of inspection in plant.

Responsible for liaising and managing customer (Ford, GM, Visteon, Delphi & Behr) concerns on EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) & HVAC water valves production lines. Facilitating & managing G8D problem solving activities. Improved the customer concerns reporting process by designing, programming & implementing a custom designed MS Access database, including training every level of the company in its use, this database was adopted by Cooper-Standard Automotive and used trans-nationally through its intranet. BOS (Business Operating System) champion for scrap reduction showing month on month reduction of scrap (-1%) across the site against target. Responsible for programming CMM machine & managing the PPAP (Pre-Production Approval Process, validation of the APQP process) for new product introduction.

Responsible for leading & co-ordinating lean & 6 sigma activities including Kaizen, 5S (5C) workplace organisation, increasing production efficiency & OEE through improved people & material flow and financial reporting of gains made. Kaizen activities managed resulted in verified savings of £267K p.a.

Developed the GM2900 (Vauxhall Vectra), BE91 (Ford Fiesta) & Jaguar XK8 brake & fuel line manufacturing cells from initial concept through to full production through APQP & PPAP. Responsible for planning the work of a team of up to 52 operatives working in a three shift system to meet demanding daily production call off whilst maintaining & improving scrap rates & production efficiency. Through a keen interest in my teams development I increased and maintained productivity by 15%.

Initially setting and operating CNC 5 axis tube benders, CNC press brakes & turret punches manufacturing steel furniture products. Gained promotion to being the principle setter then junior team leader, setting a wider variety of metalworking machines including programming FANUC controlled robot MIG welders, drills, turret punches, press brakes and tube benders (both manual/hydraulic & CNC). As a junior team leader I would carry out production planning, carry out problem solving and manage a team of 20 welders and machine operatives alongside up to two senior team leaders. * - Siebe automotive (UK) Ltd. were bought by Cooper-Standard in Jan 2000.
