The role is interpreted variously in modern times, but its basis remains the same: to support the Master, Wardens and the Company of Merchant Taylors’, and to regulate its civic and internal procedure.

I have spent a number of years front of house developing junior members of the team, managing their career paths, developing trade skills and providing on the job training. I also planned training schedules which included delivering briefs and conducting job evaluations of individuals skills with feedback. As a caterer I have ensured that correct Food & Safety standards were maintained and records kept.I have overseen the organising of high profile events which involved Royalty and other VIP's within the unit.
