Goodmark Nurseries has been in operation since 1985 as a wholesale nursery operation. With over 800 acres now in production of B&B Trees/Shrubs we are one of the largest nursery operations in the Chicagoland region. As the Grower I have overseen lots of dramatic change the past few years and have worked to revamp and develop our container shrub/perennial program here at the nursery. We have now grown to producing over 100,000 container shrubs/perennials a year and plant an additional 50,000 trees per year in our fields. Goodmark is dedicated to being a start to finish grower of top quality nursery stock and we have a great team of production staff that helps make that happen.Pesticide Management• Schedule sprays for the nursery and assist spray crew with scheduling.• Manage herbicide program.• Ensure Proper PPE for chemical applicators.• Ensure production receives proper notification of sprayed areas.• Maintain IPM records for the nursery.• Scout the entire nursery for insects/disease/deficiencies etc.• Maintain “Japanese Beetle harmonization plan” to facilitate shipping to Colorado • Ensure spray equipment is maintained and cleaned.• Purchase chemicals, equipment, and tools for IPM departmentIrrigation Management• Program the irrigation system to run in auto making necessary adjustments for weather.• Manage the fertigation and acid injectors.• Perform chemical tests on water and soil samples to assure proper nutrition.• Design, build, and maintain various large scale irrigation systems across 800+ acresProduction Planning• Work with sales manager to create and maintain production plans for shrub, perennial, and tree material•Work with materials purchaser to fill any holes in production plan and determine what liners need bought in and what can be produced in house

Willoway Nurseries is a progressive, forward thinking, true-green-industry company. Willoway is on the forefront of the horticulture and nursery industry with technology, marketing, growing techniques.As an assistant grower I managed 75+acres of flowering/fruiting shrubs, shade, and ornamental trees. Responsible for maintaining large scale irrigation systems, pumps, and fertigation injectors. In charge of scouting this area and identifying any disease/insect problems as well as filling out crop action reports recommending corrective action to be taken. Also assist in trimming, propagating cuttings, and fixing greenhouse heaters.Successfully trialed and implemented wireless moisture sensors operating on a LoRa Network to monitor real time crop moisture from anywhere via the cloud. This has proved to be a valuable tool to growers in maintaining proper moisture and reducing disease or drying out of plants. Also have succefully implemented Bluetooth temperature sensors for heated houses in the winter to collect data to make sure heaters are functioning properly even when people aren’t there to physically check on them.

Responsible for conducting various soil and chemical testing on customer samples to determine the best fit solution for their needs.Midwest specializes in dust control, erosion control, soil stabilization, anti-icing/deicing, rail lubricants, coal pile dust control, coal car topping, green paving, natural paving, and Well-Drilling Pads.

Work at the front desk of the MAAC helping any visitors with anything they need while they are working out or using the rest of the facility
