I am an experienced and professional research scientist and senior manager with an enviable track record of formulating, drafting and winning innovative research bids, managing teams involved in project delivery, and producing high-quality and timely results. Initially trained in medicinal chemistry and bio-analytical mass spectrometry, I have acquired a range of specific skills spanning the field of bioscience research, as well as significant transferrable management expertise.For many years my science was directed towards dissecting host-pathogen interactions and, in particular, I worked to understand mechanisms of protein folding and misfolding, function and dysfunction. I have had a particular focus on the role of co- and post-translational modifications in dictating properties of proteins and how those fine-tuned properties impact disease dynamics in the host.More recently, I have collaborated widely in industrially-focussed materials science research and I have led an agri-tech SME to a significant broadening of the companies research portfolio through targeted income generation.I currently work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver disparate research projects in spanning agriculture, environment, bioscience, engineering, circular economy and beyond.
