About Andy Gleeson
A passionate User Experience Designer, I’m fiercely inquisitive and an obsessive problem solver. My fascination with human behaviour and love for team-based work has led me to pursue a career where the user is placed firmly at the centre of my design process.My beginnings in design were founded in a love of functional objects and led me down the path of glass blowing. Exploring the space between aesthetic and utility I was designing and producing products, acutely aware of their role and use in the lives of my customer. Constantly testing, remaking and refining, I slowly developed a practice where I began working collaboratively with other artists to facilitate in the design and manufacture of their product lines.Running my own contracting business allowed the steady evolution of my focus away from objects, and toward problem solving and, ultimately placed me on the path to User Experience and Service Design. Through my new career I am embracing processes and approaches I have inadvertently been using for years: empathy for the end user, emphasis on ease of use, team working environments, prototyping and engaging with stakeholders and clients. I am excited to continue to grow my knowledge and skillset in this sector, and am eager to become a part of the vast community.

As the final project of the User Experience Design Immersive at General Assembly, I was Project Manager of a team briefed to design a membership portal for the Engineers Without Borders website. Upon completion of the project, and the UX Immersive, I have continued to work with EWB to take the designs through further user testing and iterations. Next steps.
