Working within the operations function at Shotts prison, I was responsible for maintaining security at the front end of the prison. This involved the issuing of keys and radios to staff and civilian contractors. Controlling entry of all persons and vehicles using state of the art equipment. Dealt with many different external agencies such as social work, lawyers, chaplains and on occasions MP’s. Gained my A1 and A2 assessors award, First Aid instructor’s certificate and my SVQ level 3 in custodial care. During this time I was quickly given the task of training co-ordinator for first aid. Courses are delivered within the training area of HM Prison Shotts, however I was also an instructor at the Prison Service National Training Facility at Polmont. In 2009 I played a key role in the implementation of a multi million pound project where a new radio system was installed within the prison. Show less

Liaising with different government agencies over the telephone, via emails and face to face, some of which were from other countries, were used to bring convictions against serving military personnel.
