A challenging role due to the enormous rate of growth within the company, managing a mixed support team of nine staff, both full time and contractors. The Technical Support team covered the Solaris, Intel and Network, including the newly installed Cisco VoIP solution, as well as the legacy Avaya platform. My focus was to stabilize the business and office systems. This involved a rolling program of upgrades and infrastructure changes. The Screwfix environment is extremely complex therefore a period of simplification was needed. I initiated two of the company’s key projects for the coming year, the implementation of a MPLS wide area network to cover the core business interconnects, as well as potentially 250 trade counters. My main roles involved being responsible for the support of the high availability Digital Platform, also supporting Sky’s network team with technical expertise. Hiring and recruiting within DSST. Directly managing a team of six staff, with a further ten staff matrix reporting to myself.
