AIT Worldwide Logistics, a leading provider of global transportation and logistics solutions, has acquired Mach2 and the Pharmafreight brand and network secretariat, specializing in worldwide distribution of pharmaceuticals and related products. Pharmafreight’s highly tenured expertise provides an instant boost to AIT’s world-class Life Sciences Division. The original Pharmafreight concept was unveiled by the founder by my managing director, Mick Scholefield, back in 2000 at a CPhI exhibition in London. I joined the company in 2003, and had to quickly learn what 2-8 even meant, and what a data logger was! The concept was well ahead of its time, and it took another two decades for the idea of GDP being adopted by other freight forwarders to become the norm. During those pioneering days, GDP training courses were developed, pharma conferences and many (20!) CPhI exhibitions were attended amongst others, building up a network like-minded freight partners along the way, resulting in the strong, quality-focussed group of members which exists today. After 20 years of developing Pharmafreight into a globally recognised organisation dedicated to the safe and quality-led transportation of medicines and related products today, the time has come to pass the baton onto new owners who share the same ideals as ours, to be stewards of Pharmafreight for years to come. AIT brings strength in depth, and the ability to put more time and effort into developing and expanding the brand into new areas and locations around the world.
