Irvine Training Group is actively involved in programs focused on transforming how we prepare and develop managers and leaders across the civil, construction, engineering and mining industries. Significant change is needed to make the most of current opportunities and challenges, through better programs, practical training and targeted education to ensure we develop the necessary technical and "soft skills" of current and future leaders and managers.

TAFE Australia Civil College was a new venture in Vocational Education, set up by North Coast TAFE as a response to calls from the civil construction and mining industry for a return to high quality, workplace based, practical training. Our challenge was to skill hundreds of new workers for the Pacific Highway upgrade. Over 1000 students completed their courses and over 500 were immediately hired into a wide range of industries. Our goal was to create new opportunities for individuals and business by improving their skills, increasing their understanding of safety, and improvements to productivity for everyone in our industry.Our mobile, live training sites allowed new entrants, people changing careers and those retraining from the mining sector to undergo intensive training in a working environment to ensure they meet the standards that industry requires.All our training was delivered by trainers with current industry experience, either 'on the job', in their workplace, or at one of our mobile training sites.

General Manager of Indigenous owned (start up) GEBIE Civil and Construction (GCC) as a Civil Construction, Quarrying, Residential and Light Commercial Construction and BHP Mine Servicing Business located on Groote Eylandt Northern Territory ($0-$12m in year 1)GCC went from a start up, to successfully implementing the following projects in 24 months:1. $18m Federal Government Housing Renovation and Construction Program in Remote Northern Territory, largest ever undertaken by and Indigenous company.2. Site establishment, planning, approvals and operational processes for a hard rock quarry supplying road construction and BHP mine in sensitive cultural and natural environments.3. Development of several residential sub divisions as a contractor to SIHIP program.4. Establishment of Indigenous staff training, numeracy and literacy and development programs, including partnerships with schools, VET training groups to go from 0 - 45 Indigenous staff.5. Managing the construction of offices, warehousing, staff accommodation and training facilities, plant and equipment workshops and quarry to meet all relevant BHP processes allowing successful registration as contractor with BHP within 18 months.

OTG Environmental Solutions is involved in environmental engineering, environmental health, construction and Indigenous community development projects. We specialise in housing and small scale infrastructure works and the connection with health and community development activities such as employment and training.
