A Senior Network and Systems Consultant with overall responsibility for all technical projects and installations, ensuring that all projects are valid and fit the customers’ requirements before submission. In this role I have managed teams of technical engineers to deliver successful projects within defined timescales and have worked closely with, and provided integration into customer IT teams. In addition to this I step in to “rescue” any projects that in danger of missing deadlines or over running budgets ensuring that our customers are always pleased with the project outcome. I focussed on dealing with Enterprise customers, many of whom are household names, and ensuring that all requirements are fully met and maintaining the excellent relationship we already had right through to board level. In doing this I built a close relationship with all of them and through this they now have trust in not only my capabilities but those of DIS as a whole.I was also responsible for educating our customers and internal staff members on new and emerging technologies and how these can be utilised to improve or enhance the existing network infrastructure. Through this process I was able to provide internal and external training and develop talent and introduce new skills to the Engineering portfolio.I also worked closely with an external Service Provider to develop a range of bespoke co-location, hosting and private WAN solutions that we are now able to offer to our customers providing large cost savings with increased visibility into the private cloud for our Engineers to enable fault resolution and troubleshooting to remain in-house. This was backed by a high availability Internet connection utilising BGP, IPv6 and L2 VPN to provide Active/Active entry and exit points from disparate data centres.

As a Network/Systems Consultant employed by both DIS and D2 I was responsible for providing pre-sales consultancy on projects for both new and existing customers. I would then follow these projects through from conception to completion providing a complete design service incorporating all products offered by both companies. After design I would provide pretesting of the design before installation and on completion of installation I would run through user acceptance testing with the customer before handing over any required documentation. In addition to this I also provided 3rd line support to our in-house TAC as well as providing 4th line/ultimate fix support to on-call engineers when needed. As the only Security Engineer employed by the business I had sole responsibility for security installations and developed the security area of our business into a core business sector providing complex VPN and security solutions to the majority of our customers. These ranged from a single router, switch or server to complete solutions covering all products offered by both DIS and D2. Whilst employed as a Helpdesk / Support Engineer my main role was to provide support to external users/customers through our helpdesk.
