Following the success of VanLab NZ, I setup a licensing deal to form VanLab USA. I have been working closely with VanLab USA CEO, Ian Fitzhenry, since October 2020 to grow our product line-up in Simi Valley, CA. In August of 2022, I took on on the role of Co-CEO.

I founded, grew, and sold VanLab Limited in Auckland, NZ. VanLab was fundamentally a conceptual study into business agility, scalability and continued improvement activities. To compliment my academic and industrial engineering experience and develop my entrepreneurial skill set, decision making and business knowledge, I challenged myself to design a business model which could be location remote, lightweight, and industry leading. VanLab designs and contract manufactures flatpack campervan conversion kitsets in Auckland. I developed the concept of CNC cut flatpack campervan conversion kits from 3D vehicle scans and built systems for contract manufacturing, pick’n’pack, shipping and automated inventory management. While my predominate tasks revolved around design, sales, and expansion, VanLab was a lesson in efficient problem solving, time management, communication, and influence. VanLab NZ was profitable every year and manufactured over 100 kitsets per year in 2021. VanLab NZ was sold for above asking price in March 2022

As a Senior Product Development Engineer , I was responsible for the development and implementation of a model-based design methodology. I led an initiative to improve the efficiency of our design process through the application of Learning First Product Development (LFPD) principles and developing a ground up framework for knowledge management.

Attribute engineer role in the Aerothermal team at McLaren Automotive. I was responsible for the development of road car heat management systems and powertrain cooling using a combination of 1D simulation and vehicle testing. I analysed and specified design requirements to complete validation against programme targets. Additionally, there was a requirement to develop new methodologies to aid concurrent engineering of highly integrated road cars.

Thermal systems management of environmental control and avionic systems is the primary focus of my current research. The investigation has set out to design, build and develop an experimental facility to replicate, assess and optimise the inflight thermal conditions of avionic and environmental control systems. The project is in collaboration with BAE Systems

Research associate responsible for experimental thermal systems testing for Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) research on fast jet military Environmental Control Systems (ECS). The project is run in collaboration with BAE Systems and Cranfield University Integrated Vehicle Health Management (IVHM) Center.

Intertek Transportation Technologies, previously Tickford Powertrain Test Ltd, is an engine test house specialising in durability, emissions, fuel, lubrication and transmission testing. I worked in the position of Test Engineer in the engine durability test department.
