After over 18 years as Technical Editor of Good Woodworking Magazine, the opportunity to work in a similar but more extensive role for routing specialists Trend Machinery was offered to me on a full time basis after working on a freelance basis for them in 2016 providing website articles and demonstrating at shows. Deciding to leave the magazine was a wrench after being involved for so long, but part of my new role involves working closely with the woodworking publications and the media to support them with project and technique based information, allowing me to retain close ties in this area.

I am responsible for reviewing and testing of new products in the woodworking industry as well as ensuring accurate and safe working practices for reader articles.I have been the main reviewer and product tester for Good Woodworking Magazine for the last 15 years, a role I still continue to do on a freelance basis since 2012. I have an excellent working relationship with suppliers and manufacturers across the industry and I am often referred to as 'the face of the magazine'.Additional roles include photography, passing on trade knowledge and correct procedures in all woodworking aspects to the readership and assisting the editorial staff in technical matters.I am also a contributor to The Woodworker Magazine and British Woodworking Magazine.A further aspect of my role is my ability to demonstrate, discuss and advise on any woodworking queries, tools and machinery at events, in house and at shows as required and I am available for any role within this area.

Construction and fitting out of luxury flybridge cruisers.I was responsible for designing and constructing the furniture, galley and bedroom layouts as well as the main internal structure of bulkheads and general fit out work.

Construction of a replica of John Cabots ship 'The Matthew', built to mark the 500th anniversary and to retrace his voyage to Newfoundland in Canada.Built from scratch using native timber, I worked on every aspect of the ship from initial main framing through to the final making of the furniture and fitting out.

I studied for three years to gain qualifications in City and Guilds Carpentry and Joinery and Advanced Craft City and Guilds Carpentry.
