Having spent 22 years in the NHS, the last 10 of which were in operational management roles, I moved to the NFP sector in 2019. Working as part of a small team with overall responsibility for all operational aspects of the organisation, has been as rewarding as it has challenging. Without the backup of specialist departments full of people ready to help, I have learned a great deal, and become far more capable in all aspects of operational management and leadership. While keeping the wheels turning will always be satisfying, getting them back on the track is what truly lights the fire within.
