Bluefin is the modern cloud-based platform for clinical trial supplies. By automating key workflows like demand and production planning Bluefin saves teams time, reduces risk and waste, and helps complete trials faster.

Led newly created "market teams" which aligned with Revenue org structure for our major segments: specialty/subcontractors, general contractors, owners, as well as International.Built out i18n R&D teams as we sought to almost triple percentage of revenue from outside US within two years. Hired i18n VP of Engineering to backfill my position, architect, and several teams to create i18n platform within R&D.

Led all application development teams. Grew team from ~150 to ~250.

Oversaw Financial Management product. Grew the team from 0 to ~45 engineers and saw the product grow to over $100M in revenue with $3 billion+/month in invoicing volume. Delivered an enduring architecture that served as a foundation to enlist the largest enterprise construction companies on the planet as customers.

As a software engineer and manager, developed several features which were key to the business at that time. Created AI/ML drawing title, number and architectural symbol detection capability for which we received two patents and allowed us to take the lead against our strongest competitor. Over time this system has scaled successfully to process hundreds of millions of drawings using the same basic architecture we originally developed. Also built many other features in these roles which have scaled similarly.

Developed components and processes for the world’s leading implantable retinal prosthesis technology, used to restore sight to patients blinded by retinitis pigmentosa, a genetic eye disease related to AMD.Led a critical-path redesign of a crucial passive electrical component, integrating clinical, electrical and manufacturing requirements. Validated design and process within an FDA-regulated environment. Developed and validated laser welding and hermetic leak detection processes.

Designed and implemented the manufacturing equipment used for volume production of an implantable neuromodulation device for severe carpal tunnel syndrome.

Engineering and operations for a major oceanographic data network used by industry and the public. Operated and maintained a 26' boat to deploy and retrieve buoys often in difficult and dangerous conditions.

Investigated modifications necessary for a complex 2.5 MW wind turbine to withstand the rigors of offshore environments. Drafted guidelines for anti-corrosion measures throughout the structure based on research into methods used by competitors and traditional offshore structures.Visited operational 300-foot-tall, 2.5 MW turbines in Iowa and Minnesota.

I worked for two summers (2004 and 2006) at ASI.ASI developed the NASA Mars Exploration Rovers' robotic arms (yep, the ones you see in photos of Spirit and Opportunity on the Martian surface). I developed software in LabVIEW to control one of the spare arms for trade shows and testing. I also participated in the mechanical design of products including a drill intended to collect samples on the Martian surface and a camera boom for the movie industry.
