As a sustainability consultant I have worked on a variety of strategy and communications efforts including writing blogs, columns, editorials, books, white papers, business plans, policy statements, conference guides, grant proposals, RFPs, press releases, ad copy, and websites. I've been a speaker at the Milken Institute, Urban Land Institute, and a variety of Sustainability summits and conferences. I've coordinated events including designing conferences, hosting summits, facilitating charrettes and round tables, and designing and leading trainings and seminars. My experience includes marketing and outreach campaigns, as well as program coordination and community engagement efforts. I have leadership and facilitation experience as a teacher, teacher-trainer, workshop leader, and program manager. As Communications Director, I was responsible for developing media and communication strategies for an emerging clean energy finance company. I led efforts including shaping all internal and external communications; developing website, blog and social media efforts; putting out press releases and coordinating PR; writing white papers; coordinating speaking engagements; developing business plans and company strategy across multiple markets.As an early board member and advisor, I helped Adam Capital understand the business landscape of socially responsible investment, federal and state clean energy policy, and craft business plans and strategies for successfully implementing innovative lending practices to solar developers.

As the Education Director for West Coast Green, the nation's leading symposium on green innovation, I booked keynote speakers including Arianna Huffington, and Van Jones; organized a special 3-hour Deep Dive with William McDonough; moderated a keynote panel with Hunter Lovins. I recruited speakers and shaped the program for a full three day conference with over 7000 attendees featuring 175 speakers in over 3 dozen sessions along 6 Tracks including:Building Communities 2.0Smart Grid = Smart CitiesBetter Business, Branding and Social InnovationEnergy + H2OEntrepreneurship & Money FlowCool Tech & Hot ProductsI worked with the marketing team to prepare print and web advertisements for magazines like Fast Company and Sustainable Industries. I published stories and did interviews promoting the conference in Huffington Post, TriplePundit, Greenbiz and elsewhere. I helped design and develop content for the 50-page conference guide. I coordinated and fulfilled major corporate sponsorship agreements with Home Depot, PG&E, Intel and IBM. I also designed and facilitated multiple summits before and during the conference on Retrofitting Multifamily Housing, Electric Vehicle Infrastructure, and Smart Buildings with industry leaders, public agencies, and corporate sponsors including Intel and IBM. I produced videos and whitepapers as summit results.Prior to becoming Education Director, I was a conference organizer, presenter, and track host from 2008 - 2009. Iconducted outreach efforts including web strategy, and writing press release for Vice President Al Gore’s keynote speech. Designed interactive sessions on finance and a green design charrette for the Action Hub. Moderated panel, “Sexiest Large-Scale Water Design Applications We Have Ever Seen.” Served as track host and conference coordinator, recruiting speakers, designing sessions, and facilitating networking events.

Served as lead writer on a full-length textbook entitled “Sustainable Infrastructure: The Guide to Green Engineering” published by John Wiley & Sons in 2010. Developed book proposal, worked with firm principals to organize content, wrote chapters, interviewed thought leaders, solicited collaborative contributions from design professionals, managed staff engineers on writing assignments, developed case studies, performed technical research, oversaw manuscript development, edited text and coordinated with publisher. Also developed company blog, website, business plan and marketing materials. Prepared RFPs and other written project materials for clients. Secured speaking engagements and prepared presentation materials for conferences, charrettes and other professional engagements.

Developed and managed a website dedicated to furthering the conversation on sustainable solutions. Published over 100 stories on green building, clean energy, environmental policy and climate change. Interviewed thought leaders and industry leaders including Lester Brown, Amory Lovins, Van Jones, Dan Kammen, Dickson Despommier, Lyndon Rive, Peter Liu and others.
