I'm an experienced reporter, writer and editor, with a track record of award-winning work. I'm currently an editor for a medical journal published by the American Academy of Family Physicians. I have experience with Wordpress, Adobe InCopy, the Microsoft Office Suite and other writing and editing software. I'm proficient in several social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, and I understand search engine optimization. During my newspaper career I was part of a 2018 Pulitzer Prize finalist team at The Kansas City Star, and I covered a range of beats, including sports, state government and health care. I am also the author of two books: Worth the Pain, a memoir about my near-fatal battle with bacterial meningitis (named a 2014 Kansas Notable Book by the state library) and The Klinefelter Legacy, a nonfiction account of the death of a central Minnesota police officer and its aftermath.
