Entering full time employment in 1981, I gained a wide range of experience at Plessey Research Roke Manor in Hampshire. This foundation proved invaluable as I progressed initially into electronics hardware design, principally in the defence research area. As my career developed, I moved steadily towards software in the commercial embedded world. My most significant experience has been in the subsea robotics control system area.I assumed a team leadership position before moving on to a senior role with a specialist embedded software tools company. After just less than four years, I returned to subsea robotics, bringing with me valuable new development experience.My latest challenge is to lead a team as we develop the next generation control architecture for all Forum vehicles and remotely controlled systems. Recognising the proven robustness of our current products, we aim to develop this yet further. Our goal is to both enhance capabilities to meet customer expectations whilst reducing complexity.I am passionate about communication, both written and verbal. My observation is that teams thrive when there is a shared understanding and unity of purpose.
