Andy McMillan serves as Director of Economic Development & Special Projects for Cherokee Nation Businesses, the holding company and economic engine of the Cherokee Nation.Andy is a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) and brings 20 years of experience in economic and workforce development, strategic planning and implementation, public administration, and development finance to initiatives at Cherokee Nation Businesses and throughout the region. He has worked on a wide variety of projects including development of the Nation’s economic development strategy, deployment of New Market Tax Credits and other financing tools for industry recruitment and retention, real estate redevelopment and reuse, and infrastructure development while also serving as an in-house consultant on matters ranging from public policy to housing development to business continuity.Andy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Texas Christian University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Oklahoma. He is a graduate of the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma, and is certified as an Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP). In 2018, he was awarded a Master Practitioner in Economic Development credential from the Advanced Economic Development Leadership Program. He is active in the International Economic Development Council as a volunteer, instructor, and committee member, participates in the Southern Economic Development Council, serves as a Trustee for the Tulsa Authority for Economic Opportunity, and serves as board member of Select Oklahoma and the Northeast Oklahoma Regional Alliance.Originally from Little Rock, Arkansas, he lives with family in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he is an active school volunteer, soccer coach, and dedicated Horned Frogs fan.
