After a career spanning 33 years with 21 years as a headteacher, I am starting a new venture as a coach and consultant in September, as I am keen to share what I have learned with others and provide advice and support for headteachers and school leaders.I have had a wonderful career in education so far which has provided me with a lot of very valuable experience:I have taught in 8 schools in 3 different local authorities meeting inspiring children, families and colleagues along the way. I worked for Coventry City Council and helped school leadership teams who needed leadership capacity and support, which provided phenomenal experience of how to secure rapid school improvement.I have been a headteacher for 21 years and during that time I have been a head of two incredible schools.I led Priors Field to outstanding in 2006 and became a local leader of education supporting new heads as a coach and mentor. I amalgamated two parent schools in Warwick and was the first head of Woodloes Primary School in 2009. This subsequently led to me being appointed by the Community Academies Trust to open a new free school - Heathcote Primary School in 2017 - during which time I worked closely with the LA, contractors, the Trust and DfE.I have also set up and led an ITTP with 6 primary partners and Warwick University and it has been fantastic to recruit and bring new talent into the profession.During the last 5 years I have been a headteacher coach and this has inspired me to take my career in a new direction.
