Working alongside some of the best in the game, helped deliver the iconic and award winning Deloitte building, completed internals on the West Rolleston School, now the benchmark in quality for the MOE, helped Farmlands into their new head office on Wairaki Rd, and completed an incident free demolition of almost 7000sqm of Student Union Building and Ngaio Marsh Theatre at Canterbury University, earning high praise from the University Safety Team for the way in which the project was completed.

Returned to Leighs Construction after the September 4 earthquakes to assist with strengthening and rebuilding works, and am proud to have played a major role in the initial response and rebuild following the major September 22 events. Actively involved in rescue and recovery work, I was then involved with all aspects of building assessments including safety, propping, asset recovery and demolition in the CBD for the first 12 months before moving onto the first rebuild within the CBD redzone of the time, The Carlton Butchery, and finishing up completing structure and most of the finish work on the Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre, opened by Prince William. During this time I also made three trips to the Philippines to assist with the recruitment of migrant work force, testing over 2000 applicants and making the recommendations on selections. An intense few years in which massive growth saw Leighs Construction evolve into a genuine tier one company, it was great to have been a part of.

Just under 5 years with Leighs Construction., where i was responsible for timely completion of a variety of commercial construction projects. Procurement, organisation of subtrades, health and safety and meeting budget/programme were all part of the role. Highlights include the completion of Clearwater Members Lounge, which was the category and gold medal winner at the CMB awards, against more fancied opponents, and the NZ Embassy and Chancery building in East Timor, designed to the Wellington seismic code, is no doubt the strongest building on the island, and a career highlight. Now considered the best constructed building in the COUNTRY!
